Marlborough Sounds Festival New Zealand

WATER & WILDERNESS WEEKEND

26 - 29 September 2008

Meet the Winemaker Dinner  - 27 September 2008

A crowd of visitors arrived by car and boat to taste their way through 5 wines from Allan Scott Wines, Forrest Estate, Montana and Lawson’s Dry Hills. Tempting the tastebuds were wonderful Kono half shell mussels from Aotearoa Seafoods.

Over dinner guests were invited to test their tastebuds and identify 2 wines from each wine maker matched to the wonderful 4 courses prepared by The Portage chef, John Anderson.

A wonderful night of conversation, laughter, great food and wine.

Next day some guests headed off for more wine tasting on a tour of Marlborough vineyards while others basked in the sun on the deck or out on the water sea kayaking.

A fantastic start to the Festival and spring.

"We are thrilled with the response to the first weekend.  The Meet the Winemaker dinner was a brilliant start with the fun of guessing the wines matched with each course featuring local seafood and wild game"

                               Tracy Johnston, Festival Coordinator

Australian couple Mark Turpin and Pamela Lawry based their New Zealand holiday around the first weekend of the festival.

" I think it's a lovely way of doing it so you can meet people connected to the wine industry, try lots of Marlborough wine and lovely food".
