The Marlborough Sounds Water and Wilderness Festival is a an ideal time to bring the kids to the Sounds and get out and enjoy the wide range of things to do.

The Portage Adventure Centre is right on the beach at The Portage and offers hire of boats, small yachts, seakayaks and mountain bikes as well as fishing gear.

This is a wonderful way to easily explore the Sounds together, throwing in a line to catch an elusive snapper or pulling up a kayak onto an empty beach for a picnic.

The Queen Charlotte Track is a close 10 minute walk from the resort and offers a range of easy to hard treks suitable for all ages and fitness.

Cruises on Queen Charlotte Sound give you the opportunity to step off onto Motuara Island bird sanctuary, see dolphins and seals, walk around historic Ship Cove or up to the waterfall at Furneaux Lodge – things which build memories.
